The dots on the fish’s body break up the dark tones and give it more life and depth (pun unintended) in this still picture.

The caudal fin of a whale shark can grow to be as long (tall) as 1.5 meters (5 ft), or as tall as about half of the adult human population. These tails help the whale shark steer their huge bodies even in the crushing waters of the deep.
